Admission/Enrollment Questions

What is the enrollment process?

We welcome applications year round. Enrollment typically begins with a tour of the campus where we walk the family and student around the school and show them our various offerings.  At the end of the tour parents are given the admissions documents and a date and time is scheduled for an assessment appointment.  As part of the assessment process, students entering grades K-8 will be given an interview and a D.I.B.E.L.S. reading fluency and comprehension assessment, and students entering grades 6 – 8 will be given a math placement test as well.  To avoid being placed on a waiting list, admissions documents should be submitted prior to the completion of the assessment process.  Once all materials are in and the assessment is complete, we will update you regarding the enrollment status of your student within one week.

May I tour the campus?

Yes, Please call the front office and ask for Ally Spors, Admissions Counselor, to schedule your tour.

Does St. Paul’s have an interview process?

Typically, the interview begins in an unofficial way during the tour process, as we interact with both the student and the parent.  We also have a semi-formal interview process which the assistant principal and counselor take part in.  Sometimes a second interview is needed, and that interview is run by the Student Support Team (SST).

Will you test my Kindergartener?

Yes, by means of personal interview and administration of the D.I.B.E.L.S. Children entering kindergarten interact one-on-one with an adult during their evaluation.

What is the math testing like? (Grades 6 through 8)

Students entering 6th grade are given a basic math test to assess their level of competency.  Students entering 7th grade are given a pre-algebra test and if need be, an algebra test.  Students entering 8th grade are given an algebra test.  Each test lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Is the math test used for placement in classes? (Grades 6 through 8)

Yes; however, grades and performance history may be factored in as well.
