Band/Music
Greetings,

I would like to welcome all parents and students to a brand new year in band. Last year ended on such a high note for all the bands, I am especially looking forward to another year of musical improvement for all the students enrolled in band. Excitement is in the air as the Advanced band continues to perform at a competitive level as they participate in music competitions and festivals. Enrollment for Beginning and Intermediate bands also continue to grow as students become more interested in enhancing their musical experience here at St. Paul’s by joining band. Hope everyone has a blessed and successful year.

With our deep commitment to music education and well rounded childhood development, St. Paul's Lutheran School provides general music education to all of its students. Our goal in general music is to build a strong musical awareness, aid in developing their academic success, and to allow them to explore music in the future. Students are required to sing in Church once a quarter. Behavior and Participation is the main criteria for grading.

From kindergarten through second grade students have a general music class once a week, where they will learn about basic music, music history, and performance through singing. This early introduction of music in the student’s life will begin to help develop spatial and creative intelligences.

From third grade through fourth grade… students meet twice a week, where they have an added element to their music curriculum. The addition of recorders adds an instrumental level to their education which helps develop their hand-eye coordination, their motor-rhythmic skills, and helps to strengthen their artistic as well as mathematical development. There is a Recorders Concert in May that students perform in.

In middle school students have electives to choose from. Students may participate in Choral Classes focusing on the Musical and Advent.

Beyond the general music program, we offer the best in music education and an assortment of ensembles and opportunities to our students. We highly encourage our students to participate in ensembles such as C-4 and the Band program. Higher education institutions look highly upon students that are involved in music programs.
