KNO Volunteer Info

Volunteers Needed
KNO is staffed by volunteer adults and teens for TK-5th grade students.  Parent volunteers and teens are providing a night out for other parents, therefore, we ask parents who use KNO on a regular basis (3 or more times) take their turn volunteering at least once each school year.  Parents are welcome to ask grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors or another adult to take their place.

Qalifications
Adults
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must go through a background check.

Teens
- Must be in 6th grade or above.
- Must be mature enough to be a leader (instead of a follower).  We need mature students who are willing to be focused on the children and have a heart to lead them and develop relationships with them.
- Must like kids and want to be with them.
- Must read through, understand, and abide by the Teen KNO Volunteer Covenant.

What You'll Do
General duties for adults include checking children in, supervising games, helping with crafts, monitoring restrooms, being aware of stranger danger, serving snacks/dinner and supervising movie rooms.

Teen volunteers assist with serving as small crew leaders.  You'll play the games with the children, do crafts with them, read stories to them and generally be their buddy for the evening.

Time Commitment
We ask volunteers to arrive at the church gym as close to 5:15pm as possible.  We realize this may be difficult for some, so do your best to get there as soon as possible.  Check in at the staff table in the gym for a staff meeting.  Parents are welcome to bring their children to play in the gym during the meeting.  A pizza dinner will be provided to all volunteers for free.  If you prefer not to have pizza, you may bring an alternative meal with you or eat before you arrive.

Staff need to be in place and ready to go at 5:45pm.  We'll assign you a spot and give you directions on what to do.  You'll need to available to supervise movie rooms until 10:00pm and stay to help clean up or put away items.

What to Bring/Wear
Please wear your Thrivent "Live Generously" t-shirt (any color), blue SP Volunteer shirt or the teal "Gather, Grow, Go" shirt.  If you do not have any of these shirts, one will be provided for you.  Also, bring a light jacket and comfy shoes.

Being With Your Own Child
Parent volunteers, if you have requested to be with your own child, we will do our best to honor your request, however, please keep in mind that there are a lot of moving parts to KNO and we may need you to serve in a capacity that doesn't enable you to be with your child.  We appreciate you being flexible and serving where we need you most.

THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING AT KNO!  Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
